Company Background & Team

Chad Brown - Owner/ Registered Service Manager and Nominated Individual

"Hello,

I'm Chad Brown, and I'm thrilled to share the story behind Progressive Independence Ltd. with you. In 2023, drawing upon my 14 years of experience in the children's social care sector, I founded this organisation with a clear vision in mind.

Our company name, Progressive Independence Ltd., speaks volumes about our dedication to moving forward and delivering top-notch care and support in every single aspect. With a deep understanding of social care, I saw an opportunity to create something truly exceptional.

Our mission is simple yet profound: to inspire hope, foster creativity, and unlock success through consistency and excellence for every child and young person under our care. We started our journey with just one supported accommodation home in the Liverpool area.

Today, we provide Trauma-Informed Care, daily independence skills, and pathways to independence and employment. But let me tell you, this is just the beginning. At Progressive Independence Ltd., we set the bar high when it comes to care and strive for excellence.

We believe in setting the highest standards, ensuring the right training, environment, and approach are in place to provide the best possible foundation for the protection and empowerment of children and young people. This enables them to thrive and reach their full potential.

Thank you for joining us on this incredible journey. Together, let's make a real difference in the lives of children and young people we support..

Progressive Independence staff will behave in a way that demonstrates respecting others, keeping your word, being loyal, exceeding expectations and progressing always!

Integrity

Progressive Independence staff will operate with Integrity as it is one of the fundamental values, we seek in the employees that we employ. Integrity is the foundation of a person who demonstrates sound moral and ethical principles at work. These are some other examples of Integrity, and these form part to the culture and organisational values.

Development

The process of developing or being developed. An event constituting a new stage in a changing situation, evolving, succeeding and having maturity as an organisation. Progressive Independence is a growing organisation and we want to develop our staff to educationally grow and professionally succeed with the company and create a mature sustainable business that invests time and training to its employees. We will do this by providing a workforce development plan annually which will evidence opportunities and self-learning for all employees.

Equality and Diversity

Equality and diversity is a term used in the United Kingdom to define and champion equality, diversity and human rights as defining values of society. It promotes equality of opportunity for all, giving every individual the chance to achieve their potential, free from prejudice and discrimination. Progressive Independence staff will demonstrate this value by treating people with respect, dignity and fairly and will not discriminate against people based on their:

Age           Disability           Gender Reassignment           Marriage and Civil Partnership           Pregnancy and Maternity
Race           Religion or Belief           Sex           Sexual Orientation

Progressive Independence will ensure that these values are adhered to, by embedding them into the recruitment process, and all of our staff development appraisals and supervision records. Challenge behaviours that do not demonstrate our core values, staff will be assessed in their performance reviews and annual review

About Us

16+ Supported Accommodation

Progressive Independence operates as a 24-hour specialist supported accommodation provider, catering to individuals aged 16 and 17, as well as care leavers aged 18 .

Within the care system, there is a focus on replicating a family home environment to support children in transitioning to independence. While foster care or children’s homes serve as suitable placements for most children in the care system, once they reach the age of 16, looked after children have the option to leave care and become 'care leavers', or transition to supported accommodation if they feel ready. This provision serves as a vital step for those who are prepared to undergo a carefully managed transition to independence.

Supported accommodation aims to nurture the development of young people's independence in preparation for adult living, all while ensuring their safety within a homely and nurturing environment. We collaborate closely with local authorities in children's social services across the UK to offer a supportive home for young people aspiring to live independently. Our mission is to empower, educate, and equip our residents with the necessary tools to navigate their transition into independence.

Our approach is characterised by a holistic, systematic, and grassroots-led methodology. We firmly believe that by fostering the right environment and providing tailored support and stimulation, we can profoundly transform the lives of young people, fostering greater happiness and fulfilment.

Young People's Entitlements

  • All our Young people will receive a placement agreement, which highlights they can expect from our home and team . We also have an agreement that is bespoke to individuals, this highlights important information such as legislation and care acts. In addition this has placement expectations and how they are required to abide to these conditions to remain safe.
  • We work closely with the placing local authority and advocacy services to ensure all young people receive their full entitlements whilst placed with Progressive.
  • All young people receive a welcome pack, which is bespoke to the individual area. This has specific details for the local area. These include things such as meeting needs around culture, religion, dietary requirements.
  • The young person’s voice is captured throughout their time with Progressive. This starts from the moment a placement is being considered, such as soft furnishings and the colour of their bedroom.  We also ensure that all our documentation where possible/suitable has the young person’s voice and views.  Our aim is to allow young people to make informed decisions around their care planning and ensuring they fully understand what support they will be receiving.
  • We want young people to tell us if they think we are doing something wrong, or are acting unfairly in some way. Complaints will always be treated seriously and we will try to put things right as quickly as possible.
