Residential SUPPORT WORKER-

Salary: £33,152 – £34,342 per year (depending on qualifications)
Sleep-ins: £60 per sleep-in (in addition to salary)
Location: Children’s Homes across Sefton, Merseyside

At Progressive Independence, our Residential Support Workers provide safe, nurturing, and child-centred care in our Children’s Homes. You’ll be part of a dedicated team making a real difference in the lives of children and young people, helping them feel secure, valued, and supported as they grow.


What the Role Involves


  • Building positive, trusting relationships with children.
     
  • Supporting emotional wellbeing, daily routines, and personal development.
     
  • Encouraging education, hobbies, and community engagement.
     
  • Safeguarding children in line with statutory guidance.
     
  • Working as part of a team to create a safe, supportive home environment.
     
  • Recording care plans, keywork sessions, and contributing to reviews.
     

What We’re Looking For


  • Passion and commitment to working with children.
     
  • Patience, resilience, and the ability to stay calm under pressure.
     
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
     
  • Ability to adapt to the individual needs of children.
     
  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or willingness to complete this).

Progressive Independence is opening a brand-new 4-bed Supported Accommodation home for 16–17-year-olds in Rhostyllen, Wrexham. We are looking for passionate and dedicated Support Workers to join our team and help shape the future of this exciting new service.


This is more than just a job – it’s an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people, supporting them to build resilience, independence, and confidence as they transition into adulthood.


What the Role Involves


  • Building positive, trusting relationships with young people.
     
  • Supporting with independence skills such as cooking, budgeting, and self-care.
     
  • Promoting wellbeing and emotional resilience through daily support and structured routines.
     
  • Encouraging engagement in education, training, and employment opportunities.
     
  • Safeguarding young people in line with statutory guidance and company policies.
     
  • Supporting community involvement, activities, and personal development.
     
  • Working as part of a team to provide stability and consistency in the home.
     
  • Recording keywork sessions, daily logs, and contributing to support planning.
     

What We’re Looking For


  • Passion for supporting young people to achieve independence.
     
  • Ability to build strong and supportive relationships.

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
     
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins.
     
  • Experience in supported accommodation, residential childcare, or similar setting is desirable but not essential.
     
  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or willingness to complete this within agreed timescales.

Progressive Independence is opening a brand-new 4-bed Supported Accommodation home for 16–17-year-olds in Wrexham. We are looking for a passionate and experienced Home Manager to lead the service and ensure the highest standards of support and safeguarding for the young people in our care.


This is a fantastic opportunity to shape a new service from the ground up, working closely with a supportive senior leadership team.


What You’ll Do

As Home Manager, you will:

  • Lead, inspire, and develop a dedicated staff team.
     
  • Ensure high standards of support, safeguarding, and independence-focused practice.
     
  • Oversee placement planning, daily operations, and quality assurance.
     
  • Work in partnership with commissioners, social workers, and safeguarding teams.
     
  • Manage budgets, staffing rotas, and compliance systems.
     
  • Promote trauma-informed, rights-based practice in every aspect of the service.
     

What We’re Looking For


  • Experience in residential childcare, supported accommodation, or a related field.
     
  • Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
     
  • A passion for supporting young people to build resilience and independence.
     
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and supported accommodation standards.
     
  • Ability to manage staff, budgets, and service performance effectively.
     
  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) and commitment to continued professional development.
