Every child deserves to feel safe, valued, and supported as they grow. At Old School House, our Ofsted-registered Children’s Home for ages 8–17, we provide a stable, nurturing environment where children can heal, build positive relationships, and thrive. With consistent care, therapeutic support, and a focus on education and wellbeing, we create a home where children feel secure, listened to, and empowered to look forward to their future.
Russell Road is a welcoming and supportive four-bed home in the vibrant residential area of Mossley Hill. As part of Progressive Independence, it offers a safe, nurturing environment where young people can grow, heal, and develop the confidence and skills needed to transition into adulthood.
Every young person receives a personalised plan tailored to their needs — this may include therapeutic intervention, life skills training, emotional wellbeing support, and pathways into education or employment.
Our dedicated team is on hand 24/7 to guide and empower each young person as they navigate their unique journey. At Russell Road, we don’t just provide accommodation — we provide a home where achievements are celebrated, challenges are met with compassion, and futures are built with care.

✨ This forms part of our three-stage Progressive Pathway (P2i Model), supporting children and young people from care to independence.
All children and young people who come to live with Progressive Independence will receive a clear home agreement, which explains what they can expect from our home, our accommodation, and our team. We also create an individual agreement, bespoke to each child or young person, which includes important information such as safeguarding responsibilities, children’s rights, and expectations for living safely together. This helps each child or young person to understand both the support they will receive and their role in our community.
We work closely with the local authority and independent advocacy services to ensure that every child and young person receives their full entitlements whilst living with Progressive.
When arriving, each child or young person is welcomed with a personalised welcome pack, tailored to their setting and local area. This includes practical information and takes account of individual needs such as culture, religion, and dietary requirements.
The voice of the child/young person is central to everything we do. From the very start, we encourage children and young people to make choices — even small things like the furnishings or colour of their bedroom — so they feel this is truly their home. Wherever suitable, their wishes are included in all planning and records. Our aim is to empower them to make informed decisions about their care and support, and to ensure they fully understand what they are entitled to.
We want children and young people to tell us if they feel something is wrong, or if they believe they are being treated unfairly. Concerns and complaints are always taken seriously, and we work hard to put things right quickly and fairly.
