Our Service Model

Our service model is based upon:

  • Providing safe, suitable, and stable accommodation that meets all legislative and regulatory requirements.

  • Completing thorough initial risk and needs assessments to ensure appropriate matching and home stability.

  • Using a strengths-based approach to gather baseline data and measure progress.

  • Offering 24/7 support from experienced, qualified, and consistent staff — in our Children’s Home this is fully residential care, and in Supported Accommodation this is delivered as shared support within a staffed setting.

  • Delivering personalised care and support tailored to each child or young person’s needs, whether through a Care Plan or Pathway Plan.

  • Embedding trauma-informed practice to promote safety, stability, and emotional wellbeing.

  • Supporting and motivating children and young people to engage in education, training, and employment opportunities.

  • Providing a structured Preparation for Independence programme to build skills for adulthood at the right stage.

  • Using evidence-based assessment tools to monitor, review, and report on progress.

  • Working within a multi-agency approach, including support for Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC).

  • Ensuring the rights and voice of every child and young person are respected and advocated at all times, with access to independent advocacy services when requested.

  • Creating clear pathways into independence and post-18 housing for those moving on from Supported Accommodation.

  • Promoting participation and co-production opportunities, so children and young people influence decisions about their care and support.

  • Completing exit planning and Moving On Plans, shared with placing authorities and Leaving Care Teams.

  • Adapting properties to meet individual needs — for example, providing additional items or removing potential triggers.

  • Offering each child or young person an individualised programme of care and support, adapted to their needs.

✨ This forms part of our three-stage Progressive Pathway (P2i Model), supporting children and young people from care to independence.

Our Homes and the Child/Young Person’s Voice

All children and young people who come to live with Progressive Independence will receive a clear home agreement, which explains what they can expect from our home, our accommodation, and our team. We also create an individual agreement, bespoke to each child or young person, which includes important information such as safeguarding responsibilities, children’s rights, and expectations for living safely together. This helps each child or young person to understand both the support they will receive and their role in our community.

We work closely with the local authority and independent advocacy services to ensure that every child and young person receives their full entitlements whilst living with Progressive.

When arriving, each child or young person is welcomed with a personalised welcome pack, tailored to their setting and local area. This includes practical information and takes account of individual needs such as culture, religion, and dietary requirements.

The voice of the child/young person is central to everything we do. From the very start, we encourage children and young people to make choices — even small things like the furnishings or colour of their bedroom — so they feel this is truly their home. Wherever suitable, their wishes are included in all planning and records. Our aim is to empower them to make informed decisions about their care and support, and to ensure they fully understand what they are entitled to.

We want children and young people to tell us if they feel something is wrong, or if they believe they are being treated unfairly. Concerns and complaints are always taken seriously, and we work hard to put things right quickly and fairly.
